Arriving late 2019/early 2020…
Inspired by my beloved kids, Lucille and Nancy (a brindle-butt Pit Bull and brazen blue tabby respectively), this variegated “brindle-dyed” yarn (or tabby-dyed, if you like) knits up in painterly stripes of varying subtlety, just like the fur of my favorite familiar beasts. Although I’ve dyed this yarn in small matching “lots” no two skeins will be exactly the same …that’s also true for every animal I’ve known and loved.
Fiber Content: 100% machine-washable *organic merino
Yardage: 394 yards/360m
Gauge: ~28 – 32 sts = 4 in/10cm
Needle: 0 – 3 US/2 – 3.25mm
Handwash in cold water for best results, or machine wash in cold water on a delicate cycle. Avoid washing with towels, jeans, or other abrasive clothing. Dry flat or tumble dry low.
*This base is spun from organic wool and, unlike traditional “superwashing”, it’s pre-treated with an organic compound to prevent felting in the wash. The dyes I use to handpaint this yarn are not organic, however, I consciously apply my dye solutions with the earth in mind. I use a low-immersion technique to conserve water, and reusable tools to reduce waste. For more information on the origins of this wool, please click here.
